First U16s Tournament a success

A great afternoon of rugby

Yesterday saw our first U16s tournament take place and we welcomed five schools to Aylesbury RFC -

  • Akeley Wood School

  • Aylesbury High School

  • Lord Williams School

  • Royal Latin School (2 teams)

  • Tring School

The standard of rugby was very impressive with all five schools playing some great stuff. Every player should be so proud.

There were over 50 players who turned up to have fun and play rugby. It was great seeing everyone play with such a great spirit.

It was an action packed couple of hours with some terrific and competitive matches.

Well done to Royal Latin 1 who managed to pip Aylesbury High School to the 1st place trophy.

We would firstly like to thank all of the players. Thank you for coming along and enjoying the game of rugby. Your passion and hard work was brilliant to see. We hope you continue playing rugby with your school and that you help to increase the number of players so we can have even more matches between schools locally.

A massive thanks as well to the teachers. We would not be able to run these events without you and the players wouldn't get the chance to play. It is great to see numbers of girls playing rugby in school start to increase and we want to support you in any way possible to grow this even more.

A huge thank to the refs who gave up their time to facilitate these matches, it really is appreciated. We had U18 academy refs, both boys and girls getting experience. This is a great chance for young refs to get more experience. We also had a number of refs from Next Phase Academy. Thanks again to Next Phase Academy for supporting the growth of girls rugby in the area.

Our next tournament is the U14s tournament which will happen at Aylesbury RFC on 5th December 2023. If you are interested getting involved, please contact us on bucksgirlsrugbycharity@gmail.com.
